Orange County Polymer Clay Guild

We meet on the last Monday of the month. This occasionally can be a holiday – as in May and Memorial Day. We will still meet on the last Monday of the month. We usually don’t hold a traditional meeting in December – we have a holiday party!! It’s usually held after the holidays – often in January. We have lots of fun sharing food and swapping gifts! Our gift exchange is a lot of fun! We each bring a gift of $25 value – it can be something of your creation - or a book or a gift certificate. Just make sure it’s clay related.

The meeting room is open at 6:30. We begin with a social time. The president will supply us an agenda and we normally begin the meeting with a demo close to 7 pm. Our members volunteer to demo. This can be a simple project or technique We encourage everyone to give a try at demonstrating. You can even demonstrate other skills – like wire wrapping, silver clay or anything you might think we’d be interested in!

Dotty -demonstrated Donna Kato's new Polymer Translucent medium on a tile and did several layers(layer, bake, layer, bake). She showed various uses on rounded surfaces that it might be useful on. She said it bakes at 350 degrees for 15 minute to clarify (clear).
She also had Kato Poly Paste which she said is used to adhere baked to unbaked clay
Scott - demonstrated how to make very 'real-looking roses'. He used burgundy clay and twisted his rose onto 12 gauge wire. The he used a cookie cutter shape to shape the petal underneath and then finally added rose leaves to the wire and wrapped this to the main wire!
